    The Province of the West Indies is composed of Anglican Churches in current and former British colonies in the Caribbean area. Before this rite was published in , the BCP was used exclusively; this service gradually replaced it. Slavery was foundational to Britain’s prosperity and rise to global power. Throughout the eighteenth century the empire’s epicenter lay not in North America, Africa, or India but in a handful of small sugar-producing Caribbean islands.
